50cc (49cc)
The work ‘50cc (49cc)’, is a motorbike with a small engine, repetitively struggling, but rotating in a circle, filling the grounds with the noise, smoke and the smell of the engine. This references the site-specific in a relationship to a work called, ‘The Flying Steamroller’ by Chris Burden. My work acts so unambitiously compared to Burden’s, it makes mine rather pathetic and annoying, almost a nuisance to the space and air. I want to deliberately cause this sense of annoyance and something which is apologising for itself. Furthermore, this work relates both autobiographically with it being a sentimental object from my childhood and mixes a playful relationship between re-imagining and purpose.
